We want you to have information to help you to make choices about where you have your baby and what support you have before and after your baby is born.

Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth (SHIP) NHS trusts have been working together to create a more ‘family focussed’ maternity service that offers women a clear, consistent menu of informed choice that helps them access the care they want, where they want it, when they want it.

This website will go through your choices, and give you space to record decisions about your care.

A key element of our vision for maternity services is for them to become more personalised, with choice offered at every opportunity.

We want to make sure that maternity care is personalised to women, their baby and their families.

Most women give birth locally but you have choices and can go wherever you wish.

"We chose to give birth at the hospital for peace of mind due to some issues with our previous birth, knowing we could use the natural pain relief of the water giving us the chance of the most natural birth we could achieve but knowing there was a doctor around"
